Bhavan’s Vidyalayam Chandigarh proudly hosted the Business Conclave (BVC) 2024, designed to challenge and inspire young minds from the region. This dynamic event showcased the creativity and analytical skills of students from Classes 9 to 12 through a series of intellectually demanding competitions, exploring areas like psychology, marketing, public speaking, and critical thinking.

The conclave included seven structured events: Psychquest, Shark Tank, Showdown, Marketing Trivia, Business Revival, Sports Wizard, Great Debate, and Moot Court. These events offered diverse learning opportunities, encouraging participants to think creatively while engaging in problem-solving, strategic planning, and effective communication, ultimately enhancing their understanding of real-world business challenges.

Under the guidance of Chief Advisors Mr. Priyanshu Grover and Mr. Adarsh Kumar Singh, along with Junior Advisor Ms. Aanya Garg and Faculty Mentors Ms. Anuradha Bhatia and Ms. Radha Bahugana, the event was meticulously planned and executed. Their efforts ensured that each event ran smoothly, maximizing participants' enriching experiences.

 

Event Summaries

 

Psychquest: Thinking Outside the Box, Inside the Mind

 

Psychquest brought psychology to the forefront, challenging Classes 11 and 12 students to explore human cognition and behavioral analysis. Teams of three researched and decoded criminal case files while participating in psychological quizzes, applying critical thinking in real-time scenarios.

 

The event featured four rounds: 

- Round O - Research Ignition: Participants submitted online research papers on psychology topics.

- Round 1 - Unlock & Unmask: Teams deciphered codes from psychological clues and identified suspects in a criminal case study.

- Round 2 - Cognito Quest: Participants competed in a buzzer quiz and a word-guessing game using psychological concepts.

- Round 3 - Research Expo: Finalists presented their research essays in poster format, followed by a Q&A session.

Shark Tank: Sink or Swim, Can You Survive the Sharks?

 

In this intense entrepreneurial showdown, students from Classes 9 to 12 presented their business ideas to a panel of experienced evaluators acting as "sharks." Teams of two pitched products or services and addressed questions on marketing, budgeting, and crisis management.

 

The competition included four rounds:  

- Round O - The Video Ideation: Teams submitted a one-minute video elevator pitch for their product or service.  

- Round 1 - Steal the Deal: Teams presented their ideas to the sharks, who evaluated their feasibility and impact.  

- Round 2 - Marketing & Budgeting: This round assessed teams’ marketing strategies and cost structures.  

- Round 3 - The Final Chase: Participants handled an on-the-spot crisis and explained their management approach.

 

Sports Wizard: On Your Mark, Let the Game Begin!

 

Sports Wizard uniquely combined physical prowess and mental agility, inviting students from Classes 9 to 12 to compete in teams of two through fitness challenges, intellectual puzzles, and a sports quiz.

 

The event featured three rounds:  

- Round 1 - Fitness Freak: Participants completed various physical tasks to test stamina and coordination.  

- Round 2 - Brain Teaser: Teams solved mentally challenging exercises like Sudoku and crosswords to assess critical thinking skills.  

- Round 3 - Sports Biz Quiz: The final round included a rapid-fire sports quiz covering topics from the Olympics to indigenous sports in India.

 

Marketing Trivia: Unleash Potential, Unleash Possibilities!

 

This event for Classes 9 to 12 tested creativity and negotiation skills, with teams of three marketing products under tight budgets and pitching to potential consumers.

 

The event included three rounds:  

- Round 1 - Auction Round: Teams bid on products using a pre-allocated budget to strategically choose what to market.  

- Round 2 - Marketing the Product: Teams presented detailed marketing strategies through creative formats like videos and skits.  

- Round 3 - Consumer Bargaining: Participants negotiated with a simulated buyer to sell their product at a favourable price.

 

Great Debate: Clash of Words—Debaters Assemble!

 

A cornerstone of BVC 2024, the Great Debate attracted participants from Classes 9 to 12, showcasing their oratory skills through committee simulations, for-against debates, and round-table discussions.

 

The event featured three rounds:  

- Round 1 - Committee Simulation: Students debated in either the Interstellar Committee on Superhuman Arms Control (Earth-13729) or the All India Political Parties Meet (AIPPM) using modified procedures.  

- Round 2 - For & Against Face Off: Participants engaged in a for-against debate, with sides determined by a coin toss.  

- Round 3 - Round Table Open Debate: Finalists took part in an open debate on diverse and thought-provoking motions.

Moot Court: Regulae Juris—Where Wit Overrules Witnesses

 

Moot Court added the intensity of legal proceedings to the Business Conclave, allowing students from Classes 9 to 12 to role-play as attorneys. Teams of two engaged in legal battles, presenting arguments in financial and criminal law scenarios.

 

The event featured four rounds:  

- Round O - Online Memorial Submission: Teams submitted a memorial online outlining their legal positions on a specific case.  

- Round 1 - Financial Law/Money Laundering Proceeding: Participants represented one party in a financial law dispute.  

- Round 2 - Criminal Court Proceeding: Teams argued a criminal law matter, with their stance assigned on the spot.  

- Round 3 - Before the Supreme Court of India: Finalists presented arguments in a constitutional law matter before a simulated Supreme Court.

Conclusion and Reflections

The Bhavan’s Business Conclave 2024 embodied intellectual vigor and youthful ambition, with events designed to tap into students' analytical and creative potential. Participants navigated psychological concepts, business marketing, and law, demonstrating remarkable dedication, resilience, and collaboration.

 

The conclave highlighted Bhavan’s Vidyalayam’s commitment to an educational environment that extends beyond textbooks. It encouraged students to engage with real-world challenges, think critically, and communicate effectively, transforming BVC 2024 into a celebration of young minds exploring and debating ideas for a brighter future.
